Summary:
It's Galen's job to keep the peace between the humans and Syrena and seek out any potential Syrena on land. But his job gets a little more complicated when he meets Emma who may just be the key to save his entire species. She appears to have the gift of Poseidon, which seems impossible... but as he is drawn into her world he may not be able to escape unscathed.
K's Thoughts:
Yes, this is a mermaid book- but no it doesn't suck. I had the opportunity to meet the Author Anna Banks at the Fierce Reads tour. She was hilarious and I could hear her voice time and time again jump off the pages of this story. Her sarcasm and wit is down to earth, which makes this unbelievable story about mermaids actually come together in a captivating way.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Was it the best book I've read this year? No. But it left me hanging COMPLETELY in the end which means, you are going to be hearing a lot more about this series from me in the future. Although the element that comes out in the end wasn't all that surprising- the fact it just cut off there was. Can't wait for more fun antics from Ms. Banks in the next installment. A great spin on mermaids, less morbid then my last YA mermaid read Lies Beneath.
Parents/Content:
Language: Very mild, a few Jack A's, but nothing else stuck out
Adult Content: Personal identity discovery, discussions about sexual relationships, passionate kissing, discrimination,
Violence: Fist fights, car accident, jealous anger, girl killed by shark. Nothing overly graphic.

LOL Yes, it's about mermaids, no it doesn't suck. That made me happy.
LOL at the previous comment.
Having seen that TV show, "Mermaids: The Body Found," I now have an entirely different perspective about mermaids. This one sounds a little more upbeat.
